




News - 23/04/2010 - College Students Scoop Outstanding French Writing Essay Prizes
Two lower sixth linguists from Princethorpe College have won prestigious prizes as part of the Wainhouse Award 2010. Hannah Foxton, 17, won first place at AS level for her outstanding French essay with Cameron Bullock,16, winning a Book Award as a result of his promising entry. The prizes are given to those students who submit a high quality French writing essay about themselves and their aspirations. The President of the award committee 91 year old Mrs Arsinoe Wainhouse MBE, commented on Hannah’s ‘outstanding’ entry and as result she will win £150.Linguists from all over the area are invited to participate in the competition.
The two students have been invited to join the Wainhouse Award Presentation later in May where they will officially receive their prizes. As this will be the tenth anniversary of the Award a representative of the Association des Membres Des Palmes Academiques will be present at the ceremony.
Head of Modern Language as Princethorpe College, Mrs Sarah Stewart was delighted with her students’ success. She added,
‘Both are talented linguists who put so much effort into their studies. It is terrific that Princethorpe has won two prizes in the same year.’
