Talented athletes from Princethorpe College have won first place in the Warwickshire Combined Events Competition held at the Pingles Centre, Nuneaton, during the first week of May. Three Year 7 girls formed the team who took part in the quadrathlon event with Annabelle Pask claiming first place overall out of 63 competitors. Four disciplines were tested; shot put, long jump, 80 metres sprint and the 600 metres. Pask, a member of Coventry Godiva Harriers, accumulated a total of 1941 points with a winning margin of over 300 points. Fellow Year 7 athlete Flora Courtney came 7th overall with Katherine Hester in 17th position which gave Princethorpe College first place out of 25 competing schools.
Princethorpe College Athletics coach Mrs Debs Brookes described Annabelle’s performance,
“ Annabelle is amazing. You can see by her winning margin how talented an all rounder she is. There are no weaknesses in her athletic ability which is why the field found it hard to contend with her. All three girls put in sterling efforts to bring Princethorpe into first place.”
Annabelle and Flora will be competing in the English Schools Athletics Championships to be held later this month.
