Best ever exam results for Princethorpe students...

OF THE 117 Year 11 Princethorpe students who sat GCSEs this summer, 97.1% of results were gained at grades at  A* to C, with each candidate achieving five or more subjects at grades A* to C.

Head, Ed Hester, comments “These are comfortably our best results GCSE ever in the College’s forty-four year history, but more impressive is the fact that 47% of grades are at A* or A, which compares with 33% in 2009, 34% in 2008 and 28% in 2007; a very significant improvement.” He added “Each member of the College’s community brings their own talent and knows they are recognised, accepted, heard, encouraged and challenged to give of their best; these results are very strong indicators that the school’s academic achievements continue to go from strength-to-strength”. Top performer was Daniel Leung who picked up ten A*s, two As and an AS-level at grade A. Close on Leung’s heels were Jacob Stone with nine A*s and one A, and Sarah Ives with eight A*s and two As.

Upper Sixth also did exceptionally well in their A-level results; over 30% of their grades were A* or A and 15 students achieved three or more A* or A grades, producing Princethorpe’s best ever A-level results. Andrew Sullivan was the top performing student with three A* and two A grades, whilst the Head Boy and Head Girl - twins James and Megan Godden – each both bagged a full set of A grades. “We are absolutely delighted that so many of our students have achieved excellent results reflecting the determination and hard work by both the students and staff.” said Ed Hester.

Princethorpe College’s Sixth Form induction day for new students is on Friday 3 September, for further details please contact Mrs Margaret Robinson, Head of Sixth Form on 01926 634200 or e-mail margaretrobinson@princethorpe.co.uk.
