The evening comprised of two halves; with the first half incorporating a Bollywood theme. Nationally recognised band Bollywood Brass accompanied students playing a range of instruments and dhol drums. Indian dances were choreographed to accompany a number of choral pieces including Ja’i Ho, the song made famous by the film Slumdog Millionaire.
The second half of the evening was a tribute to Michael Jackson. Eight hits from the days of the Jackson Five and the Thriller era were re-arranged and sung by soloists from the year group. With over a hundred dancers on stage at a time the evening was a spectacle of movement and sound.
Head teacher Ed Hester made a guest appearance as the voice from the grave in Thriller. Commenting on the event he added,
‘To put on a performance of such quality for a whole Year group is a testament to the teamwork and spirit of the staff and pupils. It was a tremendous evening.’
