




News - 05/11/2009 - Princethorpe Junior Sports Festival Proves Big Hit
Princethorpe hosted a sports festival for junior schools from around the region last week. The festival held over two days featured a hockey festival and tournament for the girls and football tournament for the boys, all aged 10 and 11, on the College’s Astroturf.
Sixteen teams from the state and independent sector took part on each of the two days, with the top three teams from each event receiving medals, and every participant receiving a certificate.
The Croft Preparatory School from Stratford upon Avon enjoyed a double winning streak, coming first in both the Hockey and Football tournaments.
Hockey Tournament Results:
1st place: The Croft Preparatory School, Stratford upon Avon; 2nd Place: Warwick Preparatory School, Warwick; 3rd Place: The Carrdus School, Banbury.
Football Tournament Results:
1st place: The Croft Preparatory School, Stratford upon Avon; 2nd Place: King Henry VIII Junior School, Coventry; 3rd Place: Telford Junior School, Leamington Spa.
Neil McCollin, Princethorpe’s Director of Sport, commented, “This is the sixth year we have run the Festival and it is going from strength to strength. The level of sportsmanship and enthusiasm is really high amongst these youngsters, and it is great to see them enjoying themselves.”
