Pupils at Crackley Hall School enjoyed a tag rugby coaching session from Worcester Warrior Dave Askew. The nineteen year old flanker who is based in Leamington stepped into offer some expert support. Tag rugby is a non contact form of rugby which is enjoyed and played by both girls and boys at the Coventry Road School. Belts are worn by the youngsters and the aim is to tag the coloured cloth attached to the belt.
‘We have played in a number of tournaments to a high level winning the Independent Schools gold medal two years ago,’ commented Director of Sport Mrs Sally Marshall.
‘Crackley offers such a wide range of different sports for all the children to try so for them to have some first hand coaching from an expert like Dave has been very useful.’
Askew, who is currently on loan to Coventry Rugby Football club enjoyed the session enormously.
‘It’s good to see younger children play a fast game like tag rugby. It can provide a useful stepping stone to the real world of rugby later on.’
