


Step 4 - Entrance Exams
Saturday 24 January 2009 – 9.00am to 3.00pm
Entrance Examinations for all age groups will take place on Saturday 24 January. All candidates must be registered at least a week before sitting the Entrance Examination.
Candidates should wear their current school uniform and should bring a pen, two pencils, eraser and ruler. Candidates for Years 9 and 10 (13+ and 14+) should bring an appropriate language dictionary, a calculator and protractor.
The papers vary in length from 45 minutes to 1 hour. A copy of a past English paper is included in the prospectus pack. Details of relevant practice papers for Maths and Verbal Reasoning for those candidates entering Years 7 and 8 re listed in the relevant section below.

Art Scholarship Examinations and Music Scholarship Auditions will take place wc Monday 19 January 2009.

Those candidates entering Years 7 and 8 (aged 11 and 12 by 31 August 2009)sit:
- Formal English paper - comprehension and essay
- Informal English paper – free writing, no preparation required
- Verbal Reasoning paper
- Mathematics paper

Those entering Years 9 and 10 (aged 13 and 14 by 31 August 2009) sit:
- Formal English paper – comprehension and essay
- Language paper (French, German or Spanish)
- Verbal Reasoning paper
- Mathematics paper
For those entering Year 9 and Year 10 personal interviews will take place wc Monday 19 January 2009. This is an informal 15 minute interview with a senior member of staff, covering the candidate’s interests, achievements, aspirations and communication skills.
