Christmas Fayre Serves Festive Cheer
For just one special Saturday in early December our lovely school is turned into a veritable ‘Winter Wonderland’. A feast for all the senses is laid before parents, children and guests by our ever industrious PTA and their army of willing helpers. This year's theme of 'Christmas and Community' was as obvious as Rudolf's red nose, as the school hall, corridors and classrooms made the transition from place of learning to site of awe and festive inspiration. There genuinely was something for everyone; tombola's spun and circulated their teddies, bottles and filled jar treats; whilst children worked in secret to prepare special gifts for parents. And still there was more - we moved excitedly through home crafts stores and the pampering room, whilst gazing in amazement at the truly excellently face-painted children.
The Christmas Fayre continues to be the venue for acquaintances to made and renewed, as our guests sampled international street food from stalls representing the world's more popular cuisines. Plates of piping hot Indian, Mexican and Thai food warmed from within, whilst hands were warmed at the heated outdoor veranda cafe. All this washed down with perhaps a delicious glass of mulled wine, Irish coffee or a creamy hot chocolate. For the more outgoing and energetic the go-to destination was the bouncy castle and bungee rope, as the children hit new heights and lengths in their bouncing efforts. That said, for those looking for a much-needed rest the ever amicable donkeys were willing to take up the strain and take you on a gentle trek if legs were tired.
Let's not forget that the Christmas Fayre is also a chance to see Father Christmas in his grotto and chat with his elves. Santa reports he really enjoyed his time with the children and that he would be delighted to visit us again next year. Thank you so much to everyone who helped out at our Christmas Fayre and who came along to support us on the day. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves and getting in the festive spirit. Whilst the PTA are still working out some of the finer details of the day it looks like we made over £3,000, which is an amazing amount for a school of this size. The money will be put to good use to buy items for the children, so thank you very much everyone for all your support!
