Junior 5's Writers Await Published Works

Good things come to those who wait; great things come from inspiration, dedication, confidence and the ability to use the kernel of sound teaching and build it into something magical. If you can please cast your mind back to last December, you'll no doubt just remember Mrs Roberts' (Junior 5 Class Teacher and Science Coordinator) creative call to action for Crackley's young writers. Mrs Roberts was on a mission; her J5 English group were set the task and given the means to make an assault on the 26th instalment of the Young Writers competition.

Young Writers is a national organisation which aims to encourage young people to engage in creative writing. The theme for this year's writing competition was a mini saga based on 'Crazy Creatures', a challenge made tricky by the judges setting a limit of just 100 words. One thing for sure is that our pupils love a challenge, so it is with no surprise that Crackley's creatives did us proud, resulting in all 15 Crackley entrants being published within their regional anthology. The scale of this achievement becomes self-evident, when you consider that in excess of 40,000 entries are received nationwide. Happily, printed copies of 'Crazy Creatures - Adventures From The West Midlands' will be arriving soon, to the delight of our budding scribes and the school's eager readers. With the national judging round fast approaching we hope that one of our 15 will be chosen, as they'll be able to add some wonderful prizes to their prestigious winners certificates.
