Rugby Boys Enjoy Watching London Irish RFC

27 Nov

On Saturday 23 November 2019, the U11A rugby boys travel to the Madejski Stadium in Reading to support London Irish RFC in a European Cup rugby match against Bayonne (France).

The visit was part of a wider day-trip organised for the boys by our U11A coach and Assistant Head, Charles Lamprecht. Originally the team were due to start the day in Windsor in a fixture against Mr Lamprecht’s previous school, St John’s Beaumont Prep School – a Catholic school in the Jesuit tradition. Sadly, the fixture had to be cancelled due to water-logged pitches.
However, all was not lost, as the boys were still keen to attend the second part of the day, an outing to watch a professional rugby match. Safely sheltered from the rain, the boys were entertained by a great game that was a real ‘try-fest’. The highlight of the day for all was being chosen to be the guard of honour as the players made their way out onto the sodden pitch. It goes without saying that London Irish gained a few fringe supporters on the day.
Mr Lamprecht commented, “Our sincere appreciations go out to Patrick Hennessy (Director of Sport at SJB) for his efforts in promoting the Catholic links between our two schools, to London Irish RFC for hosting us and to all the parents who supported us on the day. The boys certainly all enjoyed themselves and there was plenty of laughter and bonding off the playing pitch which is just as important to the development of our Crackley children. I have no doubt they will have fond memories of the trip for many years to come.”
