Six Pupils Qualify For ISA Cross Country Nationals

22 Jan

Crackley Hall had a fantastic day at the Regional ISA Midlands Cross Country on Tuesday 20 January with six pupils finishing in the top 10 in their race and qualifying for the Nationals.

Hosted at a new venue in Cheltenham (Ashley Manor School), the course proved exciting and challenging with a long climb near the start that was draining on the legs, and at one point, an almost vertical short hill climb.

Crackley Hall took 31 runners from Juniors 3 to 6 who enthusiastically tackled the course's twists and turns with courage and determination.

Huge congratulations to George W, Henry C, Sophie H, Harry W, Will M and Oscar W, who all go forward to the ISA Nationals, which this year take place on Saturday 28 February at Himley Hall in Derbyshire.

A special mention to George who took individual Gold in the U9 Boys race and to Sophie who won individual Bronze in the U9 Girls event. An extra well done to Henry C, from Junior 2, who was the youngest competitor at the event, competing alongside Year 3 and 4 pupils, and qualified for the nationals.

Crackley Hall also performed well in the team events (top five runners count). Crackley secured first place for the U11 Boys, second place for the U9 Boys, fifth place for the U11 Girls and eighth place for the U9 Girls.

Commenting on the event, Head of Extended Day, Kat Vaughan, said, “As always, the children were exceptionally well-behaved, a real credit to the school, and a pleasure to take to the competition.  They were nervous but excited and ran courageously to achieve a superb set of results.”
