U11 Boys Just Miss A Medal At The ISA Nationals

30 Jan

On Thursday 29 January, our U11 Boys Hockey team travelled to the Lee Valley Stadium, in the Olympic Park in London, for the ISA Nationals.

It was an early start, with the minibus heading off at 6.00am, but the boys had a fantastic time and after a competitive day were rightly disappointed to just miss a medal in the Plate competition.

Taking part were 20 teams from independent schools from across the country and Crackley's team embraced the opportunity to develop their ball skills, game play and general match experience.

The boys got off to a good start with a 1-1 draw against Cricklade Manor that included a cracking reverse stick finish by Harry W. They then played Cundall Manor and Alleyn Court, with both tightly-contested matches finishing in a goalless draw. They finished the pool games with an excellent 2-0 win against Claremont School. That meant they finished second in the pool and were through to the afternoon’s Plate competition.

There, they came up against a strong Lingfield College team in the semi-finals and despite battling hard went down 3-0. That put them through to the Bronze medal playoffs where they faced Chafyn Grove. That was a very closely contested game with nothing in it. Crackley got into good attacking positions and were unlucky not to score. By this stage in the day, there were some very tired legs on the pitch and the game could have gone either way. The match finished 0-0 and went to penalty shuffles. The final result, a 2-1 loss, was gutting for the boys. They finished fourth overall so just out of the medals.

Crackley Hall's U11s were super stars all day, giving their all and they have plenty of learning to take away. A huge well done to them all!
