Challenge Curriculum Trip To Bletchley Park

03 Mar

On Monday 2 March, 28 pupils from across the Foundation took part in a Challenge Curriculum cross phase adventure to Bletchley Park.

There, they explored code breaking and the historic site that played such an important role in World War 2.

As well as a guided tour, the pupils from Years 5 to 9 had a fascinating introduction to the world of cryptography. In an educational workshop, 'Interception to Intelligence: D-Day', pupils applied their problem-solving, strategic thinking and team working skills to obtain and apply scenario based intelligence. They worked in teams with great enthusiasm to break codes and decipher messages. They learned about the science and mathematics behind code breaking and developed their historical knowledge of World War 2.

It was a fantastic day full of challenge and pupils embraced the chance to be curious, think creatively and question critically, just like the incredible codebreakers of Bletchley Park.
