An unprecedented 11 Crackley Hall athletes have qualified to take part in this year’s Independent Schools’ Association’s National Track and Field Championships, reflecting the breadth of sporting excellence nurtured through games and extra-curricular sporting opportunities at Crackley Hall.
Last Monday 11 May, a team of 30 Junior 4, 5 and 6 athletes travelled to Leicester to Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium to compete in the regional ISA Midlands Athletics. Competing against children from 33 schools from across the Midlands, Crackley Hall’s pupils came away with an impressive medal haul, securing a total of 15 medals, 10 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronzes. These results, combined with consistent performances across all 38 events, ensured the school also claimed both the boys’ and girls’ overall trophies.
Head of Extended Day, Mrs Kat Vaughan, praised the outstanding attitude adopted by the Crackley Hall team. With youngsters taking part in track and field events the programme was jam-packed from the minute the first claxon sounded. “It was a long and exciting day,” commented Mrs Vaughan. “I am always impressed by our pupils’ composure, confidence and their competitive spirit. There were many excellent performances and we are absolutely delighted that a record number of athletes were placed in both track and field events.”
