Father Kevin Leads His Final Mass At Crackley Hall

30 Sep

On Tuesday 30 September, Crackley Hall School celebrated Harvest Mass. The school gathered in The Gables to give thanks for the harvest and for the care and support that God provides to us all.

We welcomed Father Kevin Hooper into school to lead the Mass, for the final time, and were joined by former staff, parents and members of the local community who we were delighted to welcome into school.

Father Kevin began by reflecting on his mixed emotions as he navigates a series of lasts – including this last Mass at Crackley Hall School. He spoke of his joy and pleasure at being involved in the life of the school and shared memories of his first visit, to what was then St Joseph’s, when he met former Headteacher, Lesley Cox. In his homily he spoke of the many people who have made a difference to his life in Kenilworth and the opportunities he has had to support the school. He praised the love and care that the ‘next best place to home’, Crackley Hall, provides and reminded us all that sharing harvest gifts is a wonderful practical way to show the love of God.

At the end of the service, Headmaster, Mr Duigan and the RE prefects presented Father Kevin with gifts from the school. They included a beautiful photo memory book that recorded many of his visits to the school and a handmade rosary, produced by the children he has supported through First Holy Communion.

We thank Father Kevin for his many years of ministry and wish him the very best as he moves on to his new adventures.
